I spent most of last week looking forward to The Dark Knight. Actually, saying that, I spent most of the past seven months looking forward to The Dark Knight and generally, I wasn't disappointed. Well, except for the first 15 minutes, during which I sat in the middle of the cinema screaming 'WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY BABY!?' In my head. Naturally. It wasn't that the first 15 minutes were terrible. They were just a little bit dull and almost slightly wierd. Maybe I was just TOO excited and nothing could live up to the image I had conjoured up. However, once Joker appears for the second time, everything picks up. Dramatically.
Heath was my Joker. A few people I know say he wasn't as good as they hoped. But then again these people have never picked up a comic in their life. He was perfectly balanced. A calculated criminal and yet utterly insane at the same time. An epic performance to go out on indeed. But is it Oscar worthy? I wasn't too sure at first, but that's because I was under the assumption that it'd be as a nomination for an actual catagory. Best actor or something like that. According to a few people though, the award would actually be a stand-alone honourary Oscar, and that I like the sound of.
My advice? Go and see The Dark Knight. A film can't get that many good reviews and be bad. It just can't.
Can it?
