Today I intend to indulge myself and talk about music for once. Namely the event that we've all be waiting for since 51 weeks ago and the reason that this will be my last post until next week.

Yes, it's Reading festival 2008. Four whole days of sitting in a field, surrounded by friends, watching bands, dancing, wearing the most outragous clothes possible and generally having a marvellous time!
Musically there isn't the density of great bands that last year boasted, but it's still a very solid and enjoyable line-up. And really does anything else have to be said other than four very special words...
Rage Against the Machine.
Seriously. Even for people who are only vague fans of their music, this summer really is a momentous occasion. One of the greatest bands of the 90s has reformed and we get to witness it. It can only be epic.
Other seriously good highlights are:
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. - Sam Duckworth started life as what would be described as an electro-indie band. He then decided he was bored being lonely on stage and dragged his mates and their horns along. And a drummer. And it's truely a wonderful sound!
Taking Back Sunday - This band are amazing. If you can get over the fact that Adam Lazara talks like a Texan. He's from New York.
Biffy Clyro - Puzzle was album of the year last year by most people's standards. It truely was a masterpiece.
Thrice - Thrice were always the prog-punkers and never got enough recognition for it. Then they released the Alchemy Index and people started to pay attention. Damn right too. It's legendary.
Alkalie Trio - Does anymore need to be said. Everyone's heard of them. Most people have heard them. The majority of people like them (or at least Stupid Kid). A few love them. Possible a little too much.
Pendulum - These guys really sum-up the past five years when it comes to dance and their live show is something spectacular. Anyone who caught Enter Shikari's set last year will know what to expect.
And so from recommendations to my outright personal opinion. Unfortunately none of the headliners are that strong. Rage are awesome but I really don't know enough of their stuff. The Killers are... Well, their The Killers... And Metallica... Just don't get me started. For me, the closing band of the weekend is Tenacious D. And who better? They may just be the band of the weekend if they're as good as I've heard they are. What a nice way to finish it shall be.
Oh. Did I mention Metallica suck? Oh, I did. Well they do. I shall throw bottles at them and then run away because they seem quite big.
