I Try Not to Live in the Past...

It's a new year. In case you hadn't noticed. But I promised myself I write down my highlights of last year. Entertainment-wise naturally. I'm sure no-one wants to hear about funniest thing my lady-friend did.

Oh you do? Another time maybe...

So to start. An easy one...

Best Album:

I never considered myself a Kings of Leon fan until this album which really did impress me. Every song's great, the mood changes perfectly throughout the album and I mean, come on, they use the line 'Your sex is on fire...' What the hell does that even mean?!? A very impressive album only really challenged by Fallout Boy's latest effort which was also epic but was let down by one track.

Best Film:

Batman. Anyone gonna argue? I thought not...

Best Television:

This is tricky. The latest series of Entourage was rather spectacular. But there were a couple of episodes which I didn't enjoy as much as I could have. Big Bang theory was also good but once again was let down by a few episodes. Heroes was wonderfully enjoyable but I didn't crave the next episode like I used to. And so...

In a very close second...

24: Redemption. I'm so glad they've brought 24 back to how it used to be and hopefully this time next year I will be raving about how season seven was the best thing about 2009. But...

Highly controversial I know...

Not the latest season, I'm talking the spectacular Top Gear: Vietnam special. Absolutely brilliant television. Beautifully shot scenery, fantastic tasks and the hilarity of Jeremey Clarkson on a bike.

Best Gig:

New Found Glory supported by Set Your Goals at Brixton was suitably brilliant. But Projekt Revolution at Milton Keynes staring Jay-Z, Linkin Park, Pendulum and Enter Shikari has to get the prize just for the sheer number of quality acts and really, well, just because it was an awesome day and we have VIP tickets and went to a party afterwards and I was really ill the next day...

Best Actor:

I'm not going to say Heath Ledger because, yes, his performance as the Joker was, well, perfect, but there's someone who really stood out this year who really established themselves as a superstar:

Apparently he's a land farmer as well...

Best Game:

I wanted it to be Prince of Persia, so badly... But it just isn't. Everyone go and buy Fallout 3. Now. I don't care what sort of person you are, you'll love it.

So that's 2008 wrapped up just in time for... Well, a little late actually. Views? Opinions? Other catagories that need to be dealt with? Do tell! It gets quite lonely up in my little tower. Yes I live in a tower. You don't believe me? Here's a picture:

It's in a bit of a dodgey area...
