When I was young it seemed life was so wonderful, a miracle... Hang on a second. That's Supertramp. Maybe I've been playing too much Vice City. Or maybe I've been playing too much Castle Crashers and bloody loving it! And the lyrics were deliberately chosen before you accuse me of going off on random tangents, there was a thought process behind my insanity. Back in the day (I've never understood this phrase and I don't intend to try) I used to play with toy soldiers. Go ahead. Mock me. But it's given me an understanding of battle tactics and commanding armies far beyond that of any normal person... So don't rub me the wrong way. Actually do. That's quite nice.
So you can understand my interest in a game where you're given control of a little knight who has to fight his way through other little knights to save the princess. Well actually, four princesses (Is that the plural? Maybe it's princessi.) You'd think that the four of them would have spoken and realised they're all dating the same guy. Unless you're playing with a friend, in which case, after beating the boss that's keeping the princess in a cage you actually have to fight your mate to win a kiss from the lady. It's man reduced to the bare essentials: Hitting each other with sticks over a woman.
Basically, if you liked Streets of Rage or Golden Axe then you'll love this. Because it's taken those games, made them look really cool, added humour (that in some places is brilliant and in some was written by a two year old), developed a levelling system so you can make your character your own and on-top of all of that, you can play with your friends whether they're in the room or online. It's basically genius. There are a couple of flaws. A few gameplay elements that are just annoying and it's only really possible to play it through a few times without going mad, but these are easily compensated for by the fact that it's £8 and can be downloaded without even leaving the house!
