Yesterday evening I went to a BBQ at a friends. A silly time of year and a silly country to do such a thing, but we were lucky and didn't get rained on. Naturally, after an hour or two of mingling, my friend and I jumped on the PS3 and drew everyone in with the sound of Buzz. Within minutes we'd gone from a party of eleven people getting along quite nicely, to four seperate teams verbally abusing each other. It's amazing how quickly people will turn, just for the opportunity to spend ten seconds yelling 'Hah! You suck!'
As a game though, Buzz is excellent. They have at last got the balance right. In previous versions of the game, you could win an entire match with one round. Or you'd fight your way to the end only to have the game go 'Oh, these points don't matter. Here have some stars that can be destroyed just by your opponents smashing their buttons.' This time there's a perfect combination of skill, knowledge and just outright luck.
So that's another game to add to the list of party games that's populated by Rock Band, Guitar Hero and pretty much anything on the Wii (it's not a console, it's the modern equivalent of pass-the-parcel.)
